Roy Nelson (born June 20, 1976) is an American Mixed martial arts fighter currently competing in the heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, former International Fight League Heavyweight Champion and winner of The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights. He is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Renzo Gracie, and is known for his grappling skills and agility. The September 30, 2009 broadcast of his fight against Kimbo Slice, officially an exhibition, was the fourth most-watched MMA match in US history. Versus Junior dos Santos (born September 12, 1984) is a professional Brazilian mixed martial artist competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Dos Santos fights in the Heavyweight division, under the tutelage of former UFC and Pride Heavyweight Champion Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva. Dos Santos is a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and currently holds a brown belt. Dos Santos trains his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Anderson Silva. He is a Brazilian heavyweight kickboxing champion with a kickboxing record of 180.

@idius11 LOL funny you say that . I called in when I got UFC undisputed when my fighter was’nt geting a title shot at 1-1 . I was conserned that my game was glitching out becouse I coulda sworn HW’s in the UFC get title shots at 1-1 ? They thought it was funny

these 2 are my favorite heavy weights in the UFC but i think they are just putting roy up there for him to get eaten alive by JDS, i think JDS is the best striker at HW and he would just eat roy alive, but then again roy is an awesome grappler and if he can get some take downs before being knocked out he can take this.

@ADZ01982 you can stop calling them yanks lol and even though GSP trains with americans doesnt mean he is one he also trained with gegard mousasi who is another top fighter not from america or brazil and you can replace cain with Aoki or Yoshihiro

Good analysis, Roy is a ground gnarler and JDS has been subbed and i dont buy what people say “he trains with nog, he’s got nogs jitz”… lol nog sure dont have jds striking.
Roys best chance imo is either to catch him with a heavy punch (unlikely) or take JDS down; where im pretty sure Roy has his number.
Bad fight for Roy but he seems mentally tough so im sure he come out ready but id say 70% chance dos santos walks away with the win.

@McFappinU the most retarded person in the wrold!remember that!to get in a guard u need to go and take a couple of shots(nelson fat slow self will get hit)now he made cro cop run in circles..idk maybe it was the punching power.he made the black dude that came from japan for first bout in ufc loook like a joke.he made gonzaga loook dead out the game!for one hes a HEAVY weight with athletic skills!unlike many HEAVY weight fighters.u need to go see some of his fights so u can have a change of mind

It’s obvious what ADZ means. He’s merely generalising based on a majority. And he’s right: The best fighters are American and Brazillian. But remember, Velasquez is American. As for GSP and Cote, they’re Canadian which is in North America; I assume he just meant the USA, though.

I agreed with everything until the JDS thing.

This guy, WTM, is overrated. He comes up with nothing which teaches you anything, but he is at least a little entertaining at times. I remember him saying, “Cro Crop is back, guys”, and that was after he beat that last guy who had two days notice and was outweighed by about 10 pounds…

But yeah, JDS has brilliant boxing, and one of the hardest punches going. He’s too small to beat Lesnar, though.

I only like analysis that tells me something that isn’t common knowledge. This isn’t hard hitting or intellectual breakdown of the attributes or the match-up, and even worst is acting like JDS is some kind of amazing new thing to MMA, he’s just a larger version of Vitor Belfort…I had to stop watching at 6 minutes when I thought the guy might jizz while talking about JDS. Here’s the deal, JDS has a punchers chance, but Roy Nelson has a much better rounded game.

lol im going for junior just for stamina……… i think the both are great fighters but staina will play a role here if it gets passed the first round!!!first round anyone can get the ko!!my opinion after that is junior will win!

Got JDS in that one. Good takedown defense, and Roy’s stand-up doesn’t look so good when he fights guys with better stand-up skills. JDS is definitely one of them. I think he’d rock Roy early in the fight. Roy fights off heart and JDS puts him away.
