When defending against a front choke hold in MMA, protect the Adam’s apple, drop the chin and grab the opponent’s elbow with the left hand. Defend against a front choke hold with tips from a mixed martial arts instructor in this free video on MMA tips. Expert: Roger Mamedov Contact: www.campundefeated.com Bio: Roger Mamedov is a third degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a brown belt in Judo. Filmmaker: Paul Muller
This a good instructional, but perhaps you could have used another application, I learnt this one from a friend who does Judo. Drop the chin, step forward with your lead leg and wrap it around your opponents lead leg then push with your lead hand on the opponent’s neck as you sweep him off balance. It may seem long, but its fast. good video though.
@DragonZord90 Hey, mate, I studied Pak Mei Ying Lung Gung Fu, and Fu Tzao Gung Fu, now I’m gonna ask you nicely, to not trash other martial arts, cause thats not what Gung Fu is about, Gung Fu is about hard training, not bad talking, respect other practitioners of other arts, cause no one style is better than another.
@Tezcax Perhaps we should all stop debating on whose style is better, cause no style is better than another, their efficacy is in the application, BJJ = Beastly Ground Game, you came Ground/Pound the shit out of your opponent. Kung Fu = One of the best stand up styles, allowing the practitoner to take more than one opponent. Its just how you use the style.
@DragonZord90 ok, try to elbow my teeth out when i’m mounted on you dropping bombs to your face. And that’s probably what would happen if I took you down, as you prolly have no damn idea how to do preventing me from mounting, no, you won’t be able to eye gouge me when i’m landing on top of you.
If a Kung Fu practitioner went down to the ground we would finger jab their eyes out, smash their groin, elbow his teeth out and break everyone of his fingers! Try doing that in a sport competition and you will be disqualified! Real martial artist doesnt compete because they know how limited rules and protective gear makes them!
Ok thats it, listen closely now little man!! I have been attacked many times and some of those times I was forced to the ground, so thats true the fight can go to the ground. But not one of my attackers I have faced has tried to ´´wrestle me to the death´´!! In Kung fu and all other ´´traditional´´ fighting forms there are ground defense but we dont practise to defend against BJJ faggots who try to hug us to death!!!
moreover, if you’re facing 10 guys it may not be a good idea to take them to the ground, but what if they try to take you to the ground? Wrestling, judo or jiu jitsu will surely help you, whereas kung fu won’t help shit, because if it did, all these practicioners wouldn’t have been defeated by the gracies in complete no rules matches.
@DragonZord90 Multiple attackers will kill you, knife wielding opponents will also kill you if you don’t have a knife of your own. That’s not mortal kombat.Sorry.
And bjj was created for self defense, in fact, if you’re so traditional you should know it came from japanese jujutsu an ancient designed to war martial art.
BJJ is not meant for self defense and its not good for self defense. If you face an attacker with a knife and try to grab him you will be stabbed 10-20times before you even get a hold on the guy! And if you face more than one attacker then the other attacker is going to stomp your head open when you try holding the first guy! Go and check out my videos I have a video that takes up this matter. I have not 1 not 2 not 3 but 10 good reasons why all wrestling type martial art sucks.
So if it sucks its mostly because a.you sucks at it or b.your teacher tech you wrong. It has nothing to do with the word traditional. And when it comes to death touch its very very real! I know some extremely deadly martial art moves that anybody would agree with me when I say: they will kill! Killing a man with just one shot is easy you just have to know how to hit and where to hit.
Obviously you know jack shit about martial art. Martial Art means art of war or in modern terms fighting art. All arts that have a movement in it designed for combat are a martial art. It doesnt matter if the art was invented 100 years ago or if it was invented yesterday its still the same thing! There is nothing in martial art that is traditional because martial arts change for every new master who practises them.
@DragonZord90 Yeah, it’s better to use the death touch or something traditional.lol
Anyway, I learned a different escape in bjj, and personally the best way is to uppercut the opponent, he’s completely open to it.
And Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA practicioners claims to be the most developed and effective martial arts. hahaaha its os funny this defense is shit thats what happens when you try to use sport in reality!

lol.. when I saw your hand going around his neck.. why not just go full force with a open palm right up his chin making him fucked up?
I’m not so good at the whole submissions and BJJ stuff but sometimes good ol’ force is enough

That is a god awful , over complicated defense.
How about – push your arms through the gap to release his grip – go into full muay thai clinch – Knee away !
